Power and power relations are as old as human society itself.
We are all confronted with power in some form or another. However, attitudes towards power and the will to power vary greatly. Whether we view power positively or negatively, and how we deal with power depends, among other things, strongly on our own value system. To deal with power responsibly, it is necessary to understand power and the rules of power, in all their dark and light facets.
In this episode, I explore the following questions:
- What is the fascination of power? What is power needed for? Do leaders need to be power-competent?
- What legitimizes power? Who is allowed to assert his will, to make a claim to power?
- How do I counter the dark triad of power? How can I defend myself against the abuse of power, what sources of power do I have at my disposal?
