Episode 8 - Provocations, disputes, conflicts
As long as there are people, there is quarrel. For all the professionalism we strive for, the workplace offers manifold opportunities for provocations, disputes and conflicts.
Many conflicts are not only about differences in opinion, but are overlaid with offenses and injuries which affect the relationship. But always giving in just for the sake of harmony can lead to massive psychological disorders over time. On the other hand, it does not make sense to react to every provocation or disagreement with a quarrel or fight.
This episode addresses the following questions:
- How can I deal with conflict? What options do I have?
- What circumstances are likely to promote conflict? What is a good conflict culture?
- How far should I go? What should I do if the conflict escalates?
